What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind in which we all go in and out of throughout our day. If you have ever daydreamed, if you have ever arrived at your destination and forgotten part of your drive, if you have ever been captivated by a book or a movie, these are all light forms of hypnosis. 

It is a simply a profound relaxation in which you are able to focus on one thing at a time with no other thoughts getting in the way.

Hypnosis is a state of mind, as natural as being in a happy state of mind, or sad state of mind. In this state you are deeply concentrated.

What does it mean to be hypnotized?

To be hypnotized is simply to adopt a belief. Similar to that in which a comedic hypnotist would suggest you to believe that you are a duck and to start quacking, being hypnotized simply stated is to let an exterior force (person, experience, place, etc) change a current belief that you have, make such an impression that it changes who you are and how you think, and or believe a suggestion.


Doesn't this sound familiar? Its called childhood! A child - until age 8-10 - is in a constant state of suggestibility (hypnosis), their brains are like sponges. This is how they learn how to live, how to talk, who to be, what to believe, and how to behave, etc. And who are children's hypnotists? Adults and parents; they behave and talk a certain way in front of a child, and the child then adopts these behaviors and ways of thinking.


Everyone is already hypnotized, and continues to be every single day. In fact when you exhibit strong enough will and discipline that you are able to change a habit or behavior of your own, on your own, you are hypnotizing yourself to believe something new, to believe that this new habit is better for you than the one it is replacing.

How does hypnosis work?

The mind is like a computer. Your subconscious is where your habits, beliefs, memories, and tendencies/behaviors are stored for when needed - much like the applications on your computer - and stay when not being used.

Most of what you do is based upon what you already know, what you have already done, and what you already believe (what you have stored). However when you make the conscious decision to better any area of your life - quitting smoking, eating better, focusing more, forgiving yourself, becoming confident - you now have an internal conflict; what you want is not what you know or what you are used to - you're trying to use an application you don't have installed.


Your conscious mind acts as a barrier to the subconscious, so when you make a conscious decision to change something about yourself, your behavior, or your life it is rare that that change is 100% adopted right away. The change has to be accepted by the subconscious in order to make it a habit or a belief. During hypnosis - your heightened state of focus and awareness - one can directly 'speak' to the subconscious mind to increase the likelihood of and decrease the time in which it takes for a new way of being to be ones new normal way of being. 

Can I be hypnotized?

Yes. In fact, you already are. Everything you currently believe is because you have adopted that belief as a personal truth, everything you currently do is because you have adopted that behavior because it serves a purpose in your life (good or bad) and everything you have been through in your life has changed you as a person.

To be hypnotized is simply to adopt a belief.

Will I lose control when hypnotized?

NO! Never. In or out of hypnosis no one can make you do anything that you do not want to do. You are in full control and can think, talk, move, or scratch an itch if you please to do so.
